Pavilion Integration Introduces Fiber-Coupled Red Lasers  (top)

San Jose, Calif., November 10, 2006 – Pavilion Integration Corp. (PIC), a manufacturer of high performance laser sources, announced that it is expanding its WhisperIT™ product line by adding fiber-coupled versions of its miniature red laser modules. These are housed in the same compact package as the free-space versions, with a hard-wired fiber pigtail output format. These highly reliable, field-proven modules meet or exceed stringent customer requirements for low noise, excellent beam quality and highly stable output power, as well as long life. Additionally, they have very fast warm-up time, dissipate very little heat, and are highly cost-effective.

The fiber-coupled versions are available with either regular Single-mode fiber, PM single-mode fiber or Multi-mode fiber. An FC/PC connector is the standard fiber termination, however other common connector types can be provided instead. Also available is the FRH (Fiber Remote Head) option that adds APC (Automatic Power Control) at the fiber output end face, to provide the highest possible output power stability.

The PIC fiber-coupled WhisperIT™ red lasers are highly suited for instrumentation, metrology, inspection, and reprographics applications. In particular, these devices are ideally suited for semiconductor wafer metrology, since they have very low intensity noise (RIN better than 130 dB down) over a broad frequency range and an excellent beam profile that is stable long-term. These applications are further enabled by the excellent polarization contrast of the PM fiber output. Like others in the WhisperIT™ family, these are fully integrated, full-time low-noise, CW solid-state lasers, and are all packaged in an identical housing design. A broad range of single and multi wavelength versions with free-space or fiber-coupled output formats are available across the spectrum (from near-UV across the visible into the near-IR).

Pavilion Integration Introduces Fiber-Coupled Green Laser  (top)

San Jose, Calif., November 6, 2006 – Pavilion Integration Corp. (PIC), a manufacturer of high performance laser sources, announced that it is expanding its WhisperIT™ product line by adding a fiber-coupled version of its miniature 532-nm laser module. The new fiber-coupled version is housed in the same compact package as the free-space version, with a hard-wired fiber pigtail output format. This highly reliable, field-proven module meets or exceeds stringent customer requirements for low noise, excellent beam quality and highly stable output power, as well as long life. Additionally, it has very fast warm-up time, dissipates very little heat, and is highly cost-effective.

The fiber-coupled version is provided with standard single-mode fiber with output power levels available up to 30 mW. Single-mode PM fiber-coupled and Multi-mode fiber-coupled options are available. An FC/PC connector is the standard fiber termination, however other common connector types can be provided instead. Also available is the FRH (Fiber Remote Head) option that adds APC (Automatic Power Control) at the fiber output end face, to provide the highest possible output power stability.

The PIC fiber-coupled WhisperIT™ 532 nm laser is ideally suited for instrumentation, reprographics, metrology and inspection customers. In particular, this version provides the highest possible beam pointing stability, since once the distal end of the fiber is firmly mounted there is essentially no motion of the output beam with time or ambient changes. Also, this version enables a new generation of highly compact and stable instruments, since the laser source can be placed anywhere within the instrument chassis. In addition, this allows the heat dissipated by the laser head to be separated from finely aligned optical trains. Like others in the WhisperIT™ family, it is a fully integrated, full-time low-noise, CW solid-state laser. It is packaged in an identical housing design to the other wavelengths. A range of single and multi- wavelength versions with free-space or fiber-coupled output formats are available.

Pavilion Integration Introduces WhisperIT™ CDRH Versions  (top)

June 24, 2006 – San Jose, CA - Pavilion Integration Corp. (PIC), a manufacturer of high performance laser sources, announced that it is expanding its WhisperIT™ product line by introducing a stand-alone controller unit (CDRH certified) for research users.

This new controller is a compact, easy-to-use accessory that provides the end-user a convenient way to operate and control WhisperIT™ lasers. For instance it allows simple adjustment of the laser output power over the full operating range. It includes an AC/DC power supply to drive any standard WhisperIT™ laser versions. The auto-ranging AC input allows its use internationally on any standard AC voltage source. It also covers safety requirements such as remote interlock functionality. The controller is just 115 mm wide, 50 mm high, and 76 mm deep.

This controller is universal, in that it can be paired with any of the WhisperIT™ family of fully integrated, full-time low-noise, CW solid-state lasers. These span the spectrum from near I.R., through the visible, into the near-U.V., with the most popular wavelengths being: 532, 635, and 405 nm. Unique PIC proprietary technology eliminates the mode hops and noise bursts common in other manufacturers’ products. Key features of these lasers are: low noise, excellent beam quality, highly stable output power and beam pointing stability, fast warm-up time, low heat dissipation and compact size. Single wavelength versions with free space or fiber coupled output formats are available, with all wavelengths packaged in the same housing design. The fiber coupled versions are fully pigtailed, eliminating instabilities from external mechanical coupling devices. Multi- wavelength versions in a single compact package are also available. Accessories for WhisperIT™ lasers include fiber combiner modules that combine the outputs from 2 or 3 fiber-coupled lasers into a single optical fiber output.

Pavilion Integration Introduces Λcontrol™ Injection Seeder  (top)

June 1, 2006 - San Jose, CA – Pavilion Integration Corp. (PIC), a manufacturer of high performance laser sources, announced that it is expanding its WhisperIT™ product line by introducing a unique injection-seeder laser source, the Λcontrol.

This seeder serves to stabilize high-power pulsed solid-state lasers, by controlling their laser wavelength and markedly improving their stability, both in reducing pulse jitter and pulse-to-pulse energy variations. The PIC seeder capitalizes on technology already incorporated into PIC’s other WhisperIT™ CW laser modules, and leverages unique PIC intellectual property, specific to this application area.

The key advantage of the Λcontrol seeder is that no modification to the slave laser is required in order to achieve reliable seeded performance. This enables end-users in the field to upgrade their existing laser systems very quickly and easily, by incorporated the Λcontrol seeder without having to add additional locking devices such as piezo control of laser cavity mirrors. This makes it an excellent choice both for laser-savvy researchers, as well as for industrial users who are much less familiar with laser physics, and simply want to improve the performance of their lasers already in operation.

Λcontrol seeders can cover the wavelength ranges centered around 785, 810, 830, 1047, 1053 and 1064 nm, so they are well-matched to all commonly used solid-state laser materials. Additionally, the seeder source is compact, has very fast warm-up time, dissipates very little heat, and is highly cost-effective.

Pavilion Integration Introduces Higher-Power 532 nm Laser  (top)

May 28, 2006 - San Jose, CA – Pavilion Integration Corp. (PIC), a manufacturer of high performance laser sources, announced that it is expanding its WhisperIT™ product line by increasing the output power of its miniature 532-nm laser modules to 30 mW, from the same compact package.

The 30-mW WhisperIT™ laser is based on PIC’s unique monolithic 532 nm laser design that has been co-developed with Photop Technologies. This highly reliable, field-proven module meets or exceeds stringent customer requirements for low noise, excellent beam quality, highly stable output power and beam pointing stability, as well as long life. Additionally, it has very fast warm-up time, dissipates very little heat, and is highly cost-effective.

The PIC WhisperIT™ 532 nm laser is ideally suited for instrumentation, reprographics and metrology customers. It has already been qualified by leading instrumentation manufacturers for use in their production instruments. It is an excellent fit for the next wave of Point-of-Care instruments due to its lower price-point. And its also well suited for portable applications, due to its low power consumption and minimal heat dissipation, as well as being highly compact. Like others in the WhisperIT™ family, it is a fully integrated, full-time low-noise, CW solid-state laser. It is packaged in an identical housing design to the other wavelengths. A range of single and multi- wavelength versions with free space or fiber coupled output formats are available.

Increasing the output power of the WhisperIT™ laser reflects PIC’s continuing commitment to provide high-quality lasers that are well-matched to the needs of its volume OEM customers, while maintaining the flexibility to provide long-term solutions for developing applications. This higher power 532-nm WhisperIT™ laser is ideal for improving throughput and sensitivity in a variety of life science applications.
